Lightbulb Re-thinking Omega-6's in our diet may save your health

I came across a very interesting article about diet and its affect on heart-disease.
Of particular interest is the part about Omega-6s and the affect they have on inflammation.

I highly recommend this to anyone on this forum with blood pressure issues, problems with lipids, or anyone just interested in understanding the affects of an imbalance in Omegas.

These days im consuming PPs Andromass and it is full of omega 6s!You may want to read Dr Barry Sears The Omega rx Zone.He basically goes into more detail about this topic.

He recommends high dose fish oils to overcome this epidemic.I don't agree with high doses of Omega 3s.I tried this diet and all it done was add fat around my midsection.

Balance and moderation in all things.

The issue that I got from the article is that so much food contains Omega6 oils that we have an imbalance which causes issues. Adding Omega3s helps balance it, but like you said it may be so much that it becomes too fatty. Lowering the Omega6 intake is a better option in conjunction with Omega 3 supplementation.

It would be good since it helps with inflammation which is the underlying cause of so many conditions including heart disease.

Omega 3's needn't add to your waistline, just keep your cals/macros in line including them and it shouldn't be a problem.

Processed foods are high in inflammatory Omega 6's and simple sugars (plus other toxins)

Inflammation is the root cause of heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure.

Change diet to lower the ratio of omega 6's to 3's typically Americans consume 15:1 to 30:1 Omega6 to Omega 3 where it should be 3:1.

Natural whole foods are the best bet, eat grass fed beef and drink olive oil, and healthy fruits and veggies don't eat sweet rolls

Hate to say it, put Lundell is a pretty well known quack. A quick google of his name shows that he has gone around and promoted many "cures for heart disease." In the past, and shills quite a bit. Don't buy into sensational or novel claims on their surface. Always do your research, never take anything at face value. Especially when it comes to health claims!

I'm not sure at what point it becomes too much. Usually it's an issue of not enough.

I take 6 capsules of fish oil per day @ 1000mg/ea. the concentration is 300mg of omega-3 fatty acids per 1000mgs.
    = 1800mgs of actual Omega-3

Each product is different in concentration.

These kind of articles will be brought out continuously. Nothing new really brought to the table in the article. Most people know that the American diet is overloaded with omega 6s.
Aside from this I rarely give any credence to articles by M.D.s, since they generally dumb and incompetent. MD/PhD that does research in the field is one I would listen to.
