*new I had a shot after 365 & 415 because they moved fast and had no pain. 465 gave me doubts but luckily I realized I was setting up to close to the bar. Pulled 515 and felt so relieved. Third time I've pulled it, once conventional with straps and sumo with downward movement. Thought it might be awhile before I go for another PR so bumped it up 5 pounds. Took forever to lock out but was smooth. Been along road since I got hurt but finally beat a really old PR. Need to be at 545 by now but happy that I could get over this hurdle.


Rest up until Monday and see if I can get this old bench PR knocked down too.

Nice PR, congrats!
Do you feel you need to do your warm up sets with such small incremental increases in weight vice maybe 135, 225, 315, 405, 495, PR attempt?
Seems like you could potentially do half as many sets and have more strength left.
That said, I see I only do about 3-4 less warm up reps than you, in half as many sets...so maybe my recommendation is a moot point. Just curious.

@truebrah: might not make since but over the last 2 weeks I seem to feel it on my accessory stuff. Sounds funny I guess but I guess I work some much on technique on the big three rather than reps/pump that I cant really tell. I have noticed a good increase on things like pull downs and dumbbell presses. My work with the slingshot easier too but I also haven't been using it long so could be newb gains. This stuff would probably be a lot better at like 400 mg a day. Programming has been pretty good lately so I cant accredit the 10 pound increase souly on the product but I sure it isn't hurting lol. The tru test will be after I get my bench and squat attempts in.

 

@pattybrah: I feel it helps a lot. I would not have gotten 515 if I would have pulled 495 first and 520 would have been totally out of question. And 405 to 495 is a big jump if you aren't a 600 pound puller in my opinion. One of my workout partners gets away with pulling like that but hes pulling 550 and can get 600 past his knees. Its a 17% increase for me as a low 500's puller.

I hear you, and you wouldn't necessarily need to do 495, I was just throwing out examples. You could do 455, then shoot for a PR. Still a big jump but I think you'd want that for your last lift to not pre exhaust yourself.
That said, I normally do 585 before I shoot for a PR, and last time I did 585, 635 pr, 640 pr, and then 650 pr. I just had to take long breaks between heavy sets.

Do you use the same method for your squats?

Pretty much just bigger jumps due to having more confidence and being stronger on that lift. Usually I'm not as anal about the jumps on normal workouts unless I'm lift alone. Sometimes I have 4 trading partners so it's easier to just jump with 25's and 45's.

So I don't go nearly as heavy but I do as many sets and more reps... Weird.

One of my training partners doesn't even do 135 for deads, starts at 225 no matter what lol.

 

Deadlifts were my favoriote exercise until I got hurt. No I have to be real careful when pulling. I used to just grip and rip. Probably why I got hurt
