When Do You Prefer To Take Highly Branched Cyclic Dextrin?

This is because of the size of the molecule of hbcd vs malto/dextrose. HBCD's absorb quickly due to their low osmolity, but they take a long time to be converted into glucose making for fast delivery yet sustained energy. I love the stuff!

 

Wasn't this the idea behind waxy maize?  Have you used waxy maize?  How does HBCD mix up?  I got some maltodextrin that wouldn't mix worth a damn.

 

Waxy maize seems significantly cheaper and touted to have the same effect.

Glycofuse ( HBCD) mixes up great. 

 

I have tried waxy maize and HBCD and I can't tell a huge difference between the two.  I have heard from others that waxy maize can lead to some indigestion...........never heard this with HBCD.

High doses maltodextrin used to give me some serious bloat. Over 50 grams at once and I got the Budda belly.

Yes, but waxy maize has been debunked in terms of effectiveness. The initial research that supported it was put out by the company that sold it. It has since been tested independently and shown to be no more effective. Basically, it's molecular weight isn't high enough to have a low enough osmolity. HBCD's on the other hand are a downy story.

So who makes affordable HBCD? Preferably unflavored.  I see Glycofuse at one site with a decent price. But I see it's pretty pricey on average. 50-55$ for 60 servings..

 

Would 30g of this stuff with your post workout shake be ok or would you need at least 60g?

half serving 25g before and 25 g during is a great mix.

Agreed except then it goes back to a very short life expectancy for each tub! Lol

Just incase this was clear. This stuff is pretty awesome I do 2 scoops of this and about 2 scoops of intra bcaa bunch of over stuff and drink it through out my workouts. I use to stop because of exhaustion now I stop because the pumps are so fucken strong. The other day I did back and arms. My arms were so pumped I couldn't put my headphones in. Finished my workout and still had energy. The only thing though is that I do 2 scoops of this and whey in the am for my first meal. This stuff goes straight to the guy and boy you better be close to a toilet about an hour to an hour and half after consumption.

Guys take it different ways. I prefer pre and intra then get a meal in 60-90 post workout.

I liked the HBCD I had. Love Karbolyn post though, all the gain without the crash!

I invested in some Intra-MD from Prime Nutrition, really liked it!  

 

Will likely play with making my own concoction based on HBCD and either Peptopro, BCAA's, EAA's or hydro whey (or combination of any of those).

Well, there is a very strong argument to be made for taking your periworkout nutrition seriously. It keeps you anabolic during your workout and taking the right carbs and protein makes it even better. I'm planning on adding slin to the mix in the neat future to further enhance the effects.

I've used HGH as well, hence I'm interested in your bold statement. Can you remind me what it is you're taking?
I'm looking at making my own at true nutrition, hence the question.
